The launch of the Cherry Mobile Omega HD 2.0 is pretty much expected as the Skyfire 2.0 is not that much of an enemy on the MyPhone A919i Duo which is considered as the best local android phone at the moment. With the Cherry Mobile Omega HD 2.0, it looks like the competition is now even up and we’re now about to see a true rivalry of affordable two top-notch smartphones.

Considering that the handset comes with rather stellar technical specifications for a midrange release, which include a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 MT6589 chipset, 1 GB of RAM, 5-inch HD IPS display, 8 MegaPixel main camera with LED flash, 720p HD video recorder, 2 MegaPixel front-facing camera, and a large 2,000 mAh battery pack, it's truly a wonder how MyPhone managed to price MyPhone A919i at only Php 9,590 and even offer it for more than Php 2,000 less during its launch a few days ago.

With the aggressive pricing strategy that MyPhone is currently employing in its line of Android devices, I guess it's safe to say that the company is definitely in it to win it. A couple of months back, both Cherry Mobile and Starmobile - MyPhone's biggest rivals in the local handset scene - released their flagship handsets in the form of the Dual Core Cherry Mobile Omega HD and Starmobile Diamond. During that point, I was wondering why we weren't seeing a competing smartphone from MyPhone, which can go head to head with those two. Apparently, the company was already planning to surprise consumers with a similarly priced Dual SIM Quad Core phablet.

I have a friend who purchased the discounted MyPhone A919i Duo at SM MegaMall during its official release date, April 30, 2013. I asked him, "What can you say about the phone?" He told me, "The screen is good. The phone feels great in the hand. The camera isn't as good as the 8 MegaPixel shooter on my Samsung Galaxy S2; I'm not getting the same image clarity especially in low light conditions. But the good thing about it is that I'm experiencing minimal lags. I guess that's because the chipset performs well. Overall, the handset is not perfect but it has enough good points to make me feel that I made the right decision in purchasing it."
