Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 Hands-on, Price, Specs – 1.2GHz Quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM
On 19, Mar 2013
Cherry Mobile is really on a roll, and there’s no sign of stopping. Along with the Cherry Mobile Omega HD, they surprisingly announced the first ever local quad-core android phone in the Philippine market. Hit the break to know more about the Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0.
Cherry Mobile has hidden the Flame 2.0 under Cherry Mobile Omega HD’s launching event – and just like the Flare Up Event, they surprised us with an awesome android-powered device partnered with an incredibly low price tag. In fact, it’s so low that we thought they’re going nuts! No, not really. But that’s what the majority of us (Pinoys) felt. Now, we’re back to seeing another game-changing smartphone, but the battery dilemma was even more severe than what we’ve expected.

The Flame 2.0 flaunts a 4.5-inch qHD IPS display with One Glass Solution technology which is already above average if we’ll take the current competition as comparison. Time flies fast and it seems like it was just yesterday when we were astonished by the ultra-affordable android phones with WVGA displays. But as time pass by, people grew excited on the pixel density war – wanting the highest ppi they could get their hands to. Only a few select pinoy android phones have qHD display and we’re fortunate enough to have another one on the list.
Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 features a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (not Pro) processor and 1GB of RAM – the most awaited specs configuration that we’ve all been waiting for. We first thought that local quad-core phones will make their way on our marketplace by Q3, but Cherry Mobile pulled another trick to bring it earlier than our calculation. It will be here by as early as next month, though we still have doubts on it’s nationwide availability after its official release then. After all, they haven’t deployed enough Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt units yet that’s why it’s still not available on most CM kiosks and retailers. But we’re still hopeful that they would address that stocks issues here in Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 and Omega HD.

Other highlights of the smartphone is its 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and VGA front camera which has a   Dual-camera mode which can also be seen on the newly announced Galaxy S4. So what’s with the Dual-camera mode? Well, it’s one nifty feature that lets your rear and front camera take photos simultaneously together and overlay it on top of the other. The usual connectivity options are here as well such as Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS, and Bluetooth.

If you think that the battery life of the Cherry Mobile Flare is horrible, then you will be very upset to know that despite being a quad-core android phone, the battery capacity was left out. The Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 only has a 1600mAh battery – which is pretty low in today’s standards. Gone were the days that all android phones couldn’t last a day of moderate usage. Manufacturers learned through their mistakes – but not of all them. Anyway, for its price of only Php6,999, that’s one of the best deal you can get.
Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 will be available next month with a price tag of Php6,999. What do you think? Did the poor battery capacity broke the deal for you? Or is it a decent trade-off for the better CPU and RAM? Let us know in the comments!
